At the La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, CA, over 100 hotel development, design and construction execs convened for HotelSpaces 2016. Amid a backdrop of mountains and palm trees in the heart of the desert, the inaugural retreat facilitated fresh approaches to some of the industry’s biggest challenges.
“It was a great opportunity to connect one-on-one in a relaxed environment,” said Randy Gaines, VP of Operations and New Development at Hilton Worldwide. Echoing praise came from Christian Urbat, SVP of Design & Construction at MGM Resorts International:

The unique event format discouraged holding attendees hostage like a traditional trade show– far from it! By cutting to the chase with relevant partner meetings and top-of-mind industry discussions, there was plenty of time for memorable networking activities. “The quick and straight-to-the-point format is certainly appreciated,” remarked Jason Cruce, VP of Design and Construction at Dakota Development. Outings included a San Andreas Fault Jeep Tour and a Dinner under the Desert Sky with mentalist Rmax Goodwin, which let attendees connect in a casual environment.
“HotelSpaces was outstanding–great executives attending, great presentations and wonderful venue that packed a lot in a short time. As a supplier, we really appreciated the thoughtful discussions that our meeting attendees provided. We took a lot of insights back home with us from the generous sharing from the executives,” said Susan Homan, Marketing Manager at DuPont Building Innovations.
After three days in the serene desert oasis of Palm Springs, participants of HotelSpaces ‘16 left refreshed and inspired by new industry friendships and a wealth of innovative ideas.
